Cafe Consciousness

Caffeine.....my day doesn’t begin till the 1st whiff reaches my nose and then its only a matter of seconds till my cup runneth over with ....hmmm.....the most important decision of the day all depends on this one pivotal moment.... is it going to be cappuccino, hazelnut flavored coffee, mocha, espresso, 1/2 coffee.1/2 decaf ( ug) or decaf (uggg)

As a friend wisely (or maybe?? sarcastically) put it to my amiga...why do you even bother with 1/2 coffee, 1/2 decaf...why don’t you just drink 1/2 a cup of coffee instead.

There has been an onslaught of flavored coffees from Starbucks (Mint Mocha Chip Frappuccino Light Blended Coffee...realllly?). I sometimes crave for just “coffee”…no frills…no fancy names……just plain coffee. I am not saying that I do not like flavored coffees but sometimes I genuinely do forget just how real coffee tastes.

Having coffee is supposed to be one of life's simple pleasures......why complicate it with sooooo many choices.

So here’s an ode to coffee:

Coffee without frills

Just with sugar and milk

That’s what I want today

Coz my life I want to simplify

And not complicate

ha ha ha :)

Ah but you see, these 'frills' are such an important part of the pop culture that even the shrinks are soon going to come up with a Scale of Personality Test depending on how you chose to spend 5 bucks every morning:)

Once while drinking coffee this thought came to me ...

A man is speeding in his Ferrari on the highway.......suddenly a hare hops up from nowhere, onto the road. unable to dodge it he runs right over it............overcome by concern he stops his car to inspect the hare..........the hare is dead.

Being an animal lover ,our Ferrari driver tries to bring back the hare to life........he frantically searches the dicky of his car and finds a spray-can there.......he sprays the dead animal with it...suddenly the hare springs back to life........it runs along the road....looks back and waves at the man....then again runs along some distance ,looks back and waves at him.....and then again runs further, looks back and waves... the man looks at the can and reads these words...
'HAIR SPRAY .... BRINGS LIFE TO DEAD HAIR ...... INCREASES WAVINESS.'

Hmm...sure plain coffee is the way to go most of the time.

But adding a little brandy in your coffee just adds a little zest. Its a great way to start a lazy Sunday. Try it somday...the more brandy you add, the less complicated things seem :)

Beneficial effects of moderate alcohol consumption are well documented...

I am willing to volunteer for a study to see if there are synergistic effect when you have both :)

Your post made me crave our good ol' filter coffee. But I'm so addicted to Starbuck's latte, I can't start my day without it. Rich espresso in steamed milk...I guess it can't get any better than that here! :)
